5 steps for writing your next social content:
- Choose a hot topic – depending on the type of market – if it is technology, healthcare, education or other industries, make sure your topic is relevant and will create interest.
- Write an appealing headline – you have about 3 seconds to win your readers to continue reading. So put in extra thought to your headline to draw attention. Your headline must stand out and communicate clearly the purpose and value of your content. Use power phrases that drives attention such as How to and the future of or is the new.
- Decide on the format – List posts and infographics are the most popular formats to drive shares to your content.
- Type – Choose the right approach that fit your audience – answer the question – what will my audience want to hear about more? Is it industry news? Or a new research results? Or maybe a practice guide?
- Length – there is a notion that less is more and that people tend to consume less and less content and have low attention span and so on. Studies have shown the opposite – both the average number of shares that posts receive and the average number of links to them, increase with the length of the content. Don’t be afraid of lengthy content – when your content is original and valuable, longer articles provide relevance, authority and value. Shorter posts can still play a role as news and opinion pieces – but don’t be afraid to go longer when there is a demand for it.
